Celebration Update 7 April, 2016

Returning to the Garden

Celebration for the Nations this year will take place on the highest part of Mount Carmel. From there Elijah called for rain in his generation. On this mountain, thousands of years ago, the nation of Israel turned their hearts back to the Lord God.

Many who have been working in the north of Israel for years sense there is a stirring in the spiritual realms. The Lord is moving as His people are gathering to cry out to Him and worship Him. The Lord is calling us in Celebration for the Nations to be a part of this!

Carmel, in Hebrew means 'fruitful field' which can also be translated 'garden'. As I have prayed over the emphasis the Lord has for this year, I felt that He is inviting us to return to the Garden.

In the Garden of Eden there was no separation between God and man, and no barrier between man and woman. There was perfect love, no fear, no pain. Today our world is full of pain and fear because we have been separated from the Lord through our sin.

The Lord is a place as well as a person. He has told us, 'abide (live) in me, and I abide in you' (John 15:4). In His own body He broke down the dividing wall of hostility between us so that He could create 'in himself one new man' (Ephesians 2:14-15). He dealt with our sin as His body was torn on the Cross. From His sacrifice, the Garden City, the new Jerusalem was created. We are all a part of that wonderful garden.

We have a choice. We live in this world of pain and division, but we need not belong to it. Jesus invites us to live in Him. Every time we forgive someone who does not deserve our forgiveness, or serve someone who, naturally speaking, we would not care for, we show that we are living in Jesus. Our own love is so very selfish, but we can draw on His life, His love. This is worship. This is honouring Jesus.

Let's live in Jesus day by day, knowing that He has made for us a beautiful Garden City to enjoy with Him forever. The River of Life flows through that Garden, just as it did in Eden at the Beginning. In it will be people from every tribe and nation, Jews and Arabs, Korean and Japanese, Welsh and English, Indian and Pakistani.

Come with Him into the garden as we prepare our hearts for this year's Celebration.

Shalom, Gail

Israel report

Our team (Gail, Nic & Louise, and Pastor Hoon Jong) have just returned from seven days in Israel, where we were arranging venues, meeting leaders and other key people, praying, and preparing all that is needed for Celebration Israel. We looked at possibilities for sleeping accommodation, meals, transport, excursions, meeting places, water, etc. There is much to consider, discuss, and negotiate because it is very different from planning events in Britain or Korea.

Thank you so much to those who were praying for us. When we look back at all that was accomplished in one short week, and the favour we received from people, we know that we were carried in prayer.

Important Travel Points!!

There are two VERY important points that you must know.

  • Insurance to cover travel, health and loss of property
    • First, everyone MUST arrange health INSURANCE before travel. This is not an option and will save you much money if anything should happen to you while in Israel.
    • Celebration Israelcannot accept any responsibility for travel, medical of loss of property costs!
  • Travel Visa
    • If you are from a country that requires a TRAVEL VISA before travelling to Israel, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can arrange for an invitation to be issued to you.

Registration online

Because of data protection issues, we cannot YET take your bookings. As soon as all facets of this event are complete we will post details online so that you can register and book any of the accommodation or meals etc that we are offering. Our goal is the best possible prices for you. Everything will be ready by MAY for online booking. Our apologies for the delay.

Please do book your own flights.

Ethnic Gifts

Please would you consider thoughtfully and prayerfully bringing small gifts from your own nation to give while attending Celebration Israel.

However, there are key points to consider here in light of where we will be. Because of mixed ethnic and religious backgrounds as well as political trouble in the area, we ask that you use great sensitivity.

  • Why crosses and the name of Jesus should not be used
    • Do not give gifts with crosses or the name of Jesus as these remind people of historical and personal hurts and misunderstandings. It can be seen as an aggressive act in the same way as handing out Christian literature is seen.
  • What words are appropriate?
    • Any writing or scripture encouragements should not use the name of Jesus, but rather the words LORD or God. There are many Old Testament verses which are quite appropriate. We are not telling you to omit using New Testament verses, but be thoughtful.

It is much wiser to use cultural/artistic gifts that build a bridge of friendship and love rather than put up a wall of hurt or aggression.

Prayer Requests

Please pray for this event! We will start to get more specific with our requests in each new letter, and these letters will be more frequent.

Specifically, there are still some accommodation details that need to be arranged.

We are also still praying for the right worship teams from the nations to join us. Since we are in Israel we would love to have an Egyptian and 'Assyrian' team (present day Iraq, Syria and Eastern Turkey) as part of the prophetic fulfilment of Isaiah 19:23-24.

In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth.

The leaders we spoke to were very excited about the event; they see it as fulfilment of prayer and destiny, and they released blessing and prayer over it. How exciting to be part of something that is bigger than any one of us, something that God is putting together!
